Most any with Osc sync will get you by. I have found that Vintage String Machine does a great emulation of the Omni 2 for those interested. it was bad...but I think its pretty flat/bad in his studio stuff, it suits the band perfectly...I dont think Ian was a particulary good vocalist either and have often thought that if Joy Division had Sheena Easton as a vocalist then world wide fame wouldve beckoned. 'Atmosphere' was on a 16-track, and it was the first polyphonic synthesiser that I got, which was a [Solina] string synth, and a Bontempi organ from Woolworths, and I used to play both of them together, and I couldn’t believe you could get a synthesiser that could play more then one note. I have the console 'atmosphere' was recorded on. Also MemoryMoog, Korg MonoPoly if you don't like money.

Yet another vote for the MS20. JD could well have been opposed to synths as a sound philosophy, but it's long been reported that Bernard was/is a huge Kraftwerk fan. I didn't have much time but since this is a fairly rare synth to come by, I thought some people might be interested in hearing a dry, clean recording of it.
