The 48-year-old rocker became an in-demand session drummer after making his mark with Chic in the 1970s, performing on Madonna's LIKE A VIRGIN and LET'S DANCE by David Bowie, among other hits. The New York native formed his first group, Big Apple Band, with guitarist Nile Rodgers and bassist Bernard Edwards in the early 1970s. Both John Taylor and Andy Taylor were eager to branch out from the synthesizer-heavy pop of Duran Duran and play some Led Zeppelin-flavoured rock and roll.
