*I received an earc of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*, After having spent an embarrassingly long time being totally confused by this story I re-read the blurb and realised I somehow missed the very significant detail that this story is told in two different timelines going in different directions. Now the two want to make up and be best buddies again, but it doesn’t always work out that way. The novel was named to the International Literacy Association’s Children’s Choice List and won the Anthony Award, in addition to being a finalist for several other awards. For example, there’s the moment when Kate’s at Marylin’s sleepover, but she’s not blending in with the other girls. I read and read and read, and it occurs to me that the book has taken an odd turn. Yay me and my astute observation skills.
